My HP laptop died last December after 2 years of service. I decided to spend some extra money in replacing it with A Sony Viao laptop. I thought with paying a premium I would get a better built machine. Seems I was wrong, 10 days after buying it a blue screen started appearing and I returned it for a replacement. Now the new machine is requiring the video drive replaced and I will be without a laptop for at least 3 weeks. My HP may have lasted only 2 years but I had no problem with it before. The 30% premium I paid for the Viao was a waste of money.

Interesting feedback. I bought a Dell 5 years ago and it is a piece of garbage in addition to now being outdated. I am planning to pay more to get a better unit next time. I'll keep your comment in mind when I go shopping.

It's a bit late for Johnny_D now but Lenovo builds a decent laptop for the price. They were once the IBM Thnikpad Laptops.
