Outback Steakhouse Brandon, Florida Complaint - Bad Service And Skimppy Portions At Outback

Review by mjitzo200007 on 2011-07-06
In the past, my wife and I have enjoyed Outback's service and food. It's been about a year since we ate at the Saint Petersburg restaurant. We stopped in their restaurant located in Brandon, Florida. WOW have things changed! First the hostess tried to seat us with another party in a common seating set up. We asked for a booth as there were many available. She stomped off and threw the menus on the table. We usually go at a time where there is a two for one special on drinks. My wife had a frozen drink which included a second one per their special. I ordered a beer, but no two drink deal on beer?! We ordered their onion for an appitizer. This is now much smaller in size, but still very good. Salads are no longer part of the deal and counted as a side. They have signs on the wall bragging about the crutons used in their salids. Indeed they are good, all four of them! The salad is half of what it used to be. My wife ordered a 6 oz. filet that ended up being a tiny thin slab of meat. My prime rib was OK, again somewhat smaller than usual. The baked potato was half the size I'm used to. It all came to $70.00 including tip. I felt cheated. We will NEVER visit an Outback restaurant again!! Too bad they lost their way!!.

If someone stomped and threw menus on the table, I probably would have left. Those are a lot of changes in only one year.

Very helpful.

I ate at outback once and wasn't impressed. The food was overpriced and my steak was very dry and had to much gristle.

I ate at Outback last year and they had the restaurant so dark I couldn't read the menu. I had to have the children read out the items to me. It was like eating in a cave. The food wasn't all that great either. I only went because my son enjoyed the bread so much but the chicken dish my daughter loved was no longer on the menu. I haven't returned.

Ouch I haven't eaten there in about two years.
It was in Washington State where I ate.
Except for the long wait we had excellent service and great food. I do wish they would take reservations.
I was actually thinking about them and their baked potatoes. I hope they all haven't gone down hill like that .

I've eaten at Outback a few times. I wasn't impressed. I like Texas Roadhouse much better. The portions are huge and the prices are decent

Outback is one of the many chains I tossed over the side. So is TRH for that matter. At TRH I had two different servers who couldn't function due to personal issues (bf trouble). You leave that stuff outside.

At Outback, the service blew chunks - server was often AWOL doing side work 45 min before closing. Bad form at this level. Food was uneven. Once they lost my order somehow.

So, I lost my memory how to get to their restaurant. I remember they were downsizing portions over 2 years ago...
