Lowe on Bellflower Blvd.,Long Beach, Calif Complaint - Price told on phone different when went to buy

Review by lewisgmaw6 on 2011-07-09
I called Lowe on Bellflower Blvd. A woman answered the phone I said I wanted a price on their retrainer blocks, she put some man on the phone. I explained to him what I wanted. I also described them to him. He told me. 86cents. I repeated again what I was looking for. He again told me 86cents. They have been on sale at places for 99cents so I thought ok. Went over and took a block that I had purchased there to be sure of the color. Well I went to the garden shop and asked a worker where the blocks were, he was nice and told me. I went to see but saw no sign for the price I was told on the phone. Went back to the man and he and a lady then sent me to lumber. I went to lumber the lady showed me a book and the blocks are in the garden shop. Back to garden shop again the man there showed me the book I showed him what I called about he called and a lady came out I again explained what I was told on the phone. She asked who I talked to I said I did not ask a name because I was going to be going on over to get them I needed 50. She then said with out a receipt or a name there was nothing she could do. I said fine and left then I went back in and asked her for the district phone number. I had to walk to the middle of the store where she finally gave it to me. Then I asked her to write her name down since I had to know names her name is I then walked to the garden shop and asked the man there his name he mad a call then showed me his badge I copied down. He was a very nice friendly young man. I have the names if I need them. As the instructions say do not post the individuals.

Sounds like there was a mix up pricing the particular block you wanted. Unfortunately without the info they requested there is not much they can do.

These are small retainer blocks - about the smallest you will find - used for landscaping in the yard versus the larger ones used for driveways and taller embankments. They weigh maybe 20 lbs, whereas the larger ones are 55-65 lbs. The heaviest ones I have used were 75, and they were brutes.

The home centers have a standard selection that changes infrequently. This sounds like it was simply a mixup - did you ask for the specific Lowes Item Number when you called?
