Marion's Piazza Complaint - Not health conscience

Review by seekNfind on 2011-07-10
DAYTON, OHIO -- I was told that this place was very good. They only accept cash, but that is not a problem I wanted some good food. I order my pizza then was directed to the drinking area. I could tell by their separation that this was catered to the beer drinkers. I found that kind of strange since there was 90 percent composed of families with young kids. I wanted to order a 2 liter but the price was almost $4 dollars. I went for a more healthy choice but unsure choice - water. Let's be honest everyone water is not very good or drinkable. I asked for a pitcher and he stated they get busy and policy says can't give out pitcher unless its beer. I told him you mean I will have to come back and forth to get water. He stated yes but I will fill up how many times you like. I told him I was changing my order to carry-out and not dine in. I asked a manager about their policy with the water re confirmed it. She stated since the water is free we need every pitcher for people who is paying for their drinks. I noticed on the tables the two liters was still in the bottle. So pretty son they would be at room temperature and no longer chilled. I told her I will not come back. Only then did she try to ask about bigger glass etc. This place is centered around paying drinkers not families. I would recommend staying away from this unfamily friendly place.

Although I will admit that $4 for 2L of soda is astronomical, I've never eaten in an establishment that gave out water by the pitcher. It's always been water by the glass. If you wanted a pitcher, you had to order soda or, yes, beer.

I have to say I thought it strange for an establishment to serve soda in the bottle.
Not what is getting really cheap..

Having to refill a glass manually each time you wanted more isn't something that bothers me. Especially since the action of getting up to go refill it is also very healthy... =)

I find water very good and quite drinkable. I'm just finishing up my 4th 52 oz mug of the night. Pizza + Beer = amazing

I agree with PE. When you get a cup and water for free, it's tough to complain that they aren't giving you a pitcher. I wonder if you could have paid to used the pitcher. Pay for the beer, but have them put water in it instead. That way both parties would've been happy (if you were okay with paying for water).

That's a good point Steve. Or if you tip very well.

Though, considering the OP picked water because the soda was $4 for a 2L pitcher, I doubt s/he would have done that.

I would have cancelled my order and left. Jeeze what a bunch of dipspits.

I've been to this place. Their pizza sucks outloud. One of the most overrated restaurant recommendations ever.

Outstanding review.

now I'm getting hungry for pizza.

although really the only healthy pizza chain I can think of is that Papa Murphy's one cos the toppings look a lot better and you can control what goes on it.

when it comes to regular pizza though... I do want to start eating healthier which is also why I'm not eating pizza in the first place.

I was at a baseball game one time and my dad has been collecting cups from each stadium, the collectable kind. Well the only cups they had were ones that they sold with beer. He doesn't drink, so he asked if he could have them fill it with soda or water, or even just have the cup empty and he'd pay the beer price. They said no, that they had to fill it with beer. Eventually he walked away and found a cup laying on the ground after the game from a person who left it.
