Target Stores Complaint - Don't Buy Extended Warranty At Target-It's A Scam!
I purchased a Nintendo DSI from Target in August 2009. The cashier asked if I would like to buy and extended warranty? He said if the device broke, I could get it replaced. It would be covered for 3 years. I bought the warranty, because my son's Nintendo DS broke after he had it for about a year, and Nintendo wanted to charge 80 dollars to fix it. So it seemed like a good deal, 20 dollars, and they will replace it. Anyway, it broke, so I immediately call the 1-800 number on the warranty sticker. Everything sounds great, they are going to send me the shipping label, I send it in, and wait for it to be fixed. Well when the box came, my daughter was very excited to see her DSI, and ripped open the box. We were expecting it to be fixed....But I was very shocked to see a letter in the box. It said the warranty was voided due to liquid damage, and they referred me to a 1-800 number if I had any questions. I call the 1-800 number, and he said that the repair company reported "liquid damage," and the warranty only covers normal wear and tear. I told him that I was sure that it had not been damaged by liquid, but he said that the "strip" on the device indicated there was liquid damage, so therefore there was nothing I could do.
I am so angry, and I feel totally ripped off. I feel like the repair company and target are in a conspiracy to get rich off selling people warranties, when they know they will make excuses to "void" them and rip us off!! I will never buy anything at Target again!!
