Unitedparts On Ebay Complaint - Be Careful When You Buy From This Seller

Review by phatfantom68 on 2005-06-21
I have had good experiences with xenon bulbs in the past, and love the brightness and luxury-car look that can't be attained with halogen bulbs. So I decided I would buy some xenon bulbs for my 91 Toyota Camry. Well, since aftermarket parts for my car are pretty scarce, I didn't have much selection to buy my bulbs, or I would have not bought these anyways. So I ordered them and received them in the mail after I returned from my vacation. The bulbs weren't name-brand and they came in a cheap little box and came with no instructions whatsoever. So i decided to pop the hood and start putting the bulbs in. First off, getting the old bulbs out was a pain, and i never did manage to get the driver's side bulb out because that requires the removal of the whole coolant reservior and removal of the battery tie-down. This procedure definitely doesnt count as the "Easy Installation" the seller promised in the item description. Next, I managed to get the passenger side bulb in, but when i turned on the lights, the bulb was extremely dim, and the high-beam didn't work. I checked the wiring and everything, but nothing, so i assumed it was a defective bulb. So, i decided to put the other one in and see if it worked, but while trying to get the bulb out of the socked, the cheap plastic rivets in the bottom of the plug broke, so i had to yank the upper part of the bulb out with pliers. After i got the old bulb out and the other bulb in, i tested the lights, but the other bulb didn't even turn on or give me the dim light the other bulb produced.

I am going to try to contact UnitedParts today for a new set of bulbs, but since I have to cover shipping, it may be best for me to just be just buy a new set of bulbs from another seller.

Overall, the transaction went well with UnitedParts, but the product itself was crap, so i would recommend that if you ever do buy anything from UnitedParts, be careful!

I can't believe parts for a 91 Camry are scarce. I have a 68 Chrysler...now THATS hard to find parts for. I dont think you looked hard enough.
