Motorola Complaint - Beware of Droid - Motorola Droid Planned Obsolesence

Motorola Droid Planned Obsolesence - Complaint
Review by SMMCK on 2011-07-18
Shortly after the 1 year manufacturer warranty for the Motorola Droid smart phone, the display went black. Naturally, this renders the entire cell phone non-usable. Cost to repair is over $100. My wife constantly complained of the Droid dropping calls and connections, but the blank screen "broke the camel's back". Save yourself aggravation and do NOT purchase Motorola Droid smart phones.

Helpful advice. I have never had a Motorola cell phone that lasted through and entire 2 year contract. This doesn't include any of the newer devices because I stopped getting Motorolas several years ago.

Noted. Alot of electronics can go faulty after the warranty. Sometimes it's just fluke. Othertimes the manufacturer knows theres a point where things start going wrong, and only guarantee the electronic to just before that point. I feel part of the issue is the pressure to manufacturers have to make the best product at the lowest price.

Motorola phones are built by Foxconn, the folks that bring you Apple, Dell, etc. The issue for build quality on Motorola is they are made in Foxconn Mexico facility - US gov contracts require it... not China... pathetic that China build quality can be better.

I had a Motorola Razr that was the best phone I ever had. The only reason I'm not still carrying it is because it was in my pants pocket when I got caught in a thunderstorm on my motorcycle and it got soaked. I now have an Android phone that isn't Motorola and it has it's own issues not on topic here, so not sure Motorola should be singled out.

Motorola is a criminal enterprise. They built the Droid 3 with a defective blue tooth feature and refuse to fix it. I got my Droid 3 from Verizon a year ago and finally decided to try the Blue Tooth feature, Blue Tooth does not work and was never working on my phone. Verizon says its a common problem but as my phone is out of warranty and Motorola has never issued a fix for it.
