Cape Ann Audio Complaint - "Tightly wound" is an understatement - NAD 533 / Rega Planar 2 Turntable

NAD 533 / Rega Planar 2 Turntable - Complaint
Review by stoughtonsound on 2011-07-18
Similar experience as most here noted. I too have had only 100% positive feedback as a buyer. I asked if I won their auction for a NAD 533 Turntable if I could pick it up locally. Their response was to cancel my bid, listing “Feedback Left For Others' Issues.” Then they blocked me from bidding on their items.

Now, in the past 3 months I've had some issues with shipping from other sellers: I had a turntable delivered to me severely damaged, a center channel speaker with a piece loose inside that rattled around like a golf ball, a speaker that had no sound coming from the tweeter (even though description said it sounds great), and another instance where the seller simply never shipped the turntable I had purchased.

In every instance we were able to come to a resolution, and my feedback reflects this. However, when asked why they blocked me after I asked if I could pick up the NAD 533 locally, the good folks at Cape Ann Audio offered the following:

"'Dennis' ?? "I've had 100% positive feedback from the sellers I've dealt with".??? That statement, as ANY eBay agent will tell you, is 100% MEANINGLESS! Since 2008, ALL 'buyers' have 100% positive feedback, thus making the feedback system meaningless. eBay sellers now only look at the FEEDBACK YOU'VE LEFT FOR OTHERS, every word of which is in your feedback profile. And YOU have left unwarranted, picayune, trite, and nasty feedback for MANY decent folks who sell on eBay. And if you DON'T know why your bid was cancelled, you DO need to take an eBay TUTORIAL, since the reason is RIGHT ON THE LISTING PAGE! And that reason is why eBay has permanently blocked you from ever bidding on our items. Trying to avoid the block by using another ID, or the ID of a family member, friend, or associate is a VIOLATION of 3 eBay rules, and will result in your dismissal from eBay. Have a nice day.........."

Nice going guys... You lost a customer who might have been a repeat buyer in a very specialized market, one who could have saved you the cost and hassles of shipping.

No offense intended to the OP-----I agree with the seller. Positive feedback as a buyer hasnt meant anything for years since sellers can ONLY leave positive.

When i sell I read the feedback bidders have left. if you were able to reach a resolution, in my OPINION, you should have left positive feedback or none at all. No mention of issues should be made, especially for someone who has had so very many issues in a few months.

Sorry, but ebay dings seller accounts HARD for neutral and negative feedback and dont even get me going on the star system

Sellers cant afford to sell to people who are known to leave less than positive feedback-----and yes I understand the OP had issues with quite a few items lately, but I still would sell to him.

That said, i would not have sent such a nasty message the way the seller did

Wow that seller needs some lessons in manners.

Yes, capeannaudio is like the Stereo Nazi, but look at all his satisfied customers.

If he doesn't want people asking if they can pick up items in person, he should state that in his ads. Is that the only question that you asked, or did you ask to pay in person?
