2005 Cadillac CTS Complaint - CTS Air Bag Problem - 2005 CTS not included in recall

Review by paulette.ford17 on 2011-07-19
My 2005 Cadillac CTS only had 30,000 miles on it when the air bag sensor failed in Jan 2011. I drove it for about a month knowing that the airbags probably would not deploy and almost had a serious accident when an 18 wheeler came so close to me that it knocked off my passenger mirror on the interstate. After that I had the airbag sensors replaced at my cost of $816.00. Then I researched the problem on the internet and found that there was a recall on 2005 CTS cars with the same problem. However I was informed by General Motors that my vin number was not included in the recall and they would send me a letter soon when they recall my car. I was given a case number and told to call back in a month. This procedure of calling back went on for 6 months and finally I was told by another GM employee that my case was closed. GM never called or sent me a letter to explain why. I am aware that other 2005 CTS owners have complained about this same problem. I think General Motors should stand behind all their cars with this problem and not just recall a few. I definitely would not purchase another Cadillac.

I don't think I would purchase a first Cadillac. It is published that their quality is less than average. In the meantime, you might be able to file a complaint with the NHTSA.
