Cheaptickets.com Complaint - Never Use Cheaptickets!!! - Flight/Car Rental/Hotel

Flight/Car Rental/Hotel - Complaint
Review by cozofdeath on 2011-07-22
These people are scam artists in the making! I literally just got back yesterday from vacation to write this! When they show you what package you can get that doesn't mean they have contacted the people at the hotel, car rental, etc. it just means these are the services that are available. That means if you pay for a car rental for instance at Budget when you land to get the car budget will tell you cheaptickets never talked to them and they have NO information regarding your purchase at cheaptickets. So lets say you bought car insurance through cheaptickets. Budget won't even know about it and will NOT accept it and they will want you to buy their car insurance on top of renting it because cheaptickets sold you stuff that is none existing and useless. So to say the least you will experience many problems during your stressful vacation and you will shell out a lot of extra cash and get no help at all from the people your buying services from whether it's from cheaptickets or Budget or etc. In my opinion this is unlawful and they should be investigated!

I have a feeling your car insurance policy was very valid, but the Budget agents used scare tactics to up sell you to their own policy.

I rent lots of cars, and between my credit card and personal car insurance I have enough insurance already to cover rental cars... However, rental car agents have told me plenty of times that they don't take these types of third party insurances.

TECHNICALLY this is true - rental agencies don't work with third party insurances... they will come after you the driver, and you will have to work with your carriers to be reimbursed for the money you pay to the rental agency.

I get the rental agency insurance about half the time, especially for shorter rentals... The extra $25 day simply to walk away from any wrecks is worth it... However, if I have a say two week long rental I will bite the bullet and rely on my third party insurance... Filling out some extra paperwork if something happens to the car is probably worth saving a couple hundred.

Thanks for the reply. If the car insurance policy was valid then two sales reps and a manager lied right to our faces not to mention our regular car insurance already covers us but was added as a precaution so no matter what budget wasn't getting insurance money from us.

This would not be the first time car rental employees lied or hid some of the truth to sell insurance.
