Dick's Sporting Goods, Inc. Complaint - Dont buy baseballs bats at dicks - baseball bat

baseball bat - Complaint
Review by steve.buhl on 2011-07-25
BUFFALO -- Bought a defective bat at dicks. Broke it first hit. Tried to Return it 3 days later, they wouldn't take it back. Would not give me credit towards a new one. Basically took my money, gave me a broken bat, and wouldn't do anything about it. Will never shop there again

Even the pros break bats on a regular basis. You must have hit the ball "just right".

Stick with aluminum next time?

Did they give you a broken bat, or a bat that broke on the first hit? There is a big difference. I believe you are supposed to hold the grain a certain way.

You can tell pretty quickly if a bat is broken by tapping one end on the ground and listening to it. It'll make a very different sound if it's broken than if it's not broken.

I've seen players who break a bat every couple of games (even on the first use of a bat they've broken it, but it doesn't mean the bat was broken to begin with. Some bats have a 90 day return policy, where you mail it to the manufacturer and they will send you a replacement, but they will do this only one time.

The cheaper bats often don't have this same type of deal and can break at any time. My bats last a while longer than most of my teammates because I am not a power hitter, but more of a contact hitter. After about 30-40 games, my bat will eventually break.
