Arby's Inc. Compliment - Arby's Angus Three Cheese & Bacon Sandwich

Compliment
Review by Justice-4-All on 2011-07-27
FARMINGTON, NEW MEXICO -- I decided to dine inside today, if nothing else, just to relax and "get away" from work for awhile. I looked at the picture menus and the new Angus Cool Deli didn't appeal to my tastebuds, so I tried another fairly new item, the Angus Three Cheese and Bacon Sandwich.

The cashier was very polite and seemed to actually care that he was there. Although he spoke only broken English and I could barely understand him, he seemed to understand me perfectly fine. And afterall, isn't that the important thing, that the business understands what the customer wants? I could care less that he then turned around and spoke another language to the rest of the crew. He took care of me in a professional and courteous manner and that is all that matters.

I ordered a a combo, which included a large drink and a large order of curly fries (one of my favorite things about Arby's). I was slightly dismayed when I received the food and compared it to the picture on the menu (see attached photos). It somewhat paled in comparison to the advertisement. But the taste was actually pretty good, even better than I had anticipated. The delivery time of the food was very short, the items were nice and hot, and even the drink was nearly perfect as one could ask for. Not too syrupy, or too much or too little carbonation, etc...It was just right!

As far as the quality and taste of the food, I would definitely recommend the sandwich to others. For myself, I just didn't feel as though it was quite worth the $9.52 that I paid for it. The sandwich alone was $4.99 and compared to other establishments, I could get much more bang for my buck elsewhere. But then again, it is Angus beef, which tends to be a little pricey to begin with.

Grade:

(Service) A
(Taste) B
(Value) C

I think it should be priced at about $7...IMHO

Thanks for reporting back to us. Guess I will continue to stay away from Arby's since they are not that close anyway. You saved me some time and energy on the Angus Cool Deli.

Thanks again!

J4A, Did the meat taste like beef jerky to you?

Awesome review man!

They spend 1,000's of $$ setting up and taking those pictures of their food. What you get never matches the pic. Have a friend up in West L.A. that makes fake replica's out of fiberglass and takes photo's for restaurants and food manufacturers. He will spend two days just to get one picture of a food entre'.

Sometimes when you see a pie, cake etc for sale in the display case or the desert cart at a restaurant it's one of his fakes. The real ones are in the back. But you can't tell the difference. (unless you try and bite into one)

Old Timer> In regards to the Cool Deli, I only said it didn't appeal to "my" tastebuds. I'm really picky and finicky when it comes to what they put on my food. Most of the toppings didn't appeal to me, but perhaps you or others may enjoy one.

Excellent review of your dining experience! One thing I would like to note is I could careless if the cashier is polite or not as long as I get my grub on.

"I was slightly dismayed when I received the food and compared it to the picture on the menu (see attached photos). It somewhat paled in comparison to the advertisement" - When doesn't it? Shame on you for having any degree of dismay because you know better.

The beef in the sample photo looks fake.

I rarely go for the "combo" anywhere, in fact I don't anymore. The drinks are overpriced, and if I get into the habit of fries my waistline AND wallet will take a hit. So I'm cheap and get just a sandwich.

If it is a real angus sandwich, $5 seems about right. $4+ for fries and a drink chaps my rear.
Posted by justcuz on 2011-07-27:
The beef in the photo kind of looks like cat.

Old Timer> I watched a program on the Food Network that showed the majority of the food in commercials are actually clay sculptures and air-brushed to perfection. Crazy, huh?
Posted by Old Timer on 2011-07-27:
Yes it is J4A, but it keeps my buddy busy and rolling in coin. He only does fiberglass, says it cleans up better after sitting awhile and holds together better than the clay or other materials.

I actually think your photo looks better than theirs. The meat looks raw. Or as Gordon Ramsey would say as he slaps the food down on the table...."IT'S RAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! HOW DARE YOU????"

just_cause> If you really cared, you would have invited me over for a healthy and nutritious meal for lunch. Possibly topped off with some delicious huckleberry cheesecake for dessert. It's okay though, because I am the forgiving type.
Posted by Justice-4-All on 2011-07-27:
Churro> Not really a jerky taste in mine. Maybe yours was just overcooked? Or even more plausible, it may have been a combination of the meat and what seemed to be peppercorn, much like you might find on peppered jerky.
Posted by justcuz on 2011-07-27:
I had huckleberry cheesecake this past weekend, it was delicious.

People look at me like I'm nuts when I mention Huckleberries. Man-O-Man, my Mom made THE BESTEST Huckleberry pies in the entire Universe!
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2011-07-27:
Oh alright...sometimes people look at me like I'm nuts even if I don't mention Huckleberries.
Posted by justcuz on 2011-07-27:
DB, that is my 2nd favorite kind of pie, right behind rhubarb/peach.

Huckleberry milkshakes are probably the greatest creation ever.

Posted by old fart on 2011-07-27:
Up north we calls 'em Blueberries...
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2011-07-27:
I've never had rhubarb ... and I don't plan on it. Looks like red celery.
Posted by Justice-4-All on 2011-07-27:
just_cause> Now THAT constitutes harassment! For punishment, I'm locking you in my closet and forcing you to watch 72 straight hours of uninterrupted "Perfect Strangers".
You'll come back asking Addy for a nic' change to Balki Bartokomous.
Posted by old fart on 2011-07-27:
Rhubarb is good for you if you like tart and sweet..
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2011-07-27:
NO OLD F!!! Huckleberries are NOT the same as Blueberries!
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2011-07-27:
I like SweetTarts...
Posted by Old Timer on 2011-07-27:
I love blueberries. This time of year I add them to my gluten free Chex ceral in the mornings. Makes a very tasty breakfast. Sure is a small container for what you pay for them though.
Posted by DebtorBasher on 2011-07-27:
Old Timer, you should go out and pick Huckleberries. I tell ya, you cand spend hours just to fill up one little bucket and it takes alot to make a good pie.

The Huckleberry patch we used to go to in PA was full of snakes and quicksand, and we had to cut through a really old cemetary where all the graves were caving in...but boy was it worth it.
Posted by justcuz on 2011-07-27:
OF, blueberries are not the same as huckleberries - huckleberries are purplish-blue with flattened bottoms and have a very distinct taste.

Rhubarb/peach pie is awesome DB..it doesn't sound great but the combo of tart and sweet is so good!

Justice...no clue what you're talking about but it sounds kinda fun!
Posted by Old Timer on 2011-07-27:
Thanks, I know were buying blueberries because that's what the package says. I don't think I have ever seen hucklberries around here? They might be at Mother's Market or one of the specialty markets.

My Dad had Blackberries grow wild on his property in Oregon. During the Summer you could spend days picking them and never put a dent in the bush you were working on. The blackberry bushes used to get 10-12' tall. Then in the winter he would cut them all back down again.

Blackberries have a very sweet taste all of their own. Everyone has blackberry pies this time of year for sale.

I don't care for Arby's. Your picture confirms why: it tastes like it looks
Posted by jktshff1 on 2011-07-27:
I can't see the pics on this or other posts. Even my own blog and addy won't respond as to why.

Jkt, have you tried clearing your IE browser cache with something like CCleaner? You could just have some corrupted files screwing things up for you.
Posted by jktshff1 on 2011-07-27:
DB, you know I ain't that messy.
I'll give it a try thanks.
Posted by Wally86 on 2011-07-27:
As a fast food enthusiast I would not get this. $9 for a combo you kidding me? I'd rather spend that kinda doe at Denny's or at a decent sit down restaurant eating a juicy burger with fries no bueno.
