National Car Rental Complaint - Stay Away from National!
SAN JOSE DEL CABO, MEXICO, NEW JERSEY -- This is my horror story.
In summary, I rented a car from the National Renal Car company at Posada Real Hotel. During the rental, one of their employees said they noticed transmission fluid leaking out of the car while it was parked at the hotel. They changed the car and told me it wasn't a problem. I returned the car and there was still no mention of extra payment. Five days after I left Cabo, they charged my debit card 700$ USD for damage to the transmission that I did not do. They claim that I was negligent, in an accident, and the undercarriage of the car is not covered by the full daily insurance I paid. I was not in an accident nor was I negligent. The car drove exactly the same from the day I rented it till the day they switched me out of it.
The American branch of National told me I have to handle the situation with the Mexican branch, the Mexican branch says I am at fault and responsible for 700$ USD, the Better Business Bureau can only add the complaint to their database of complaints, and my bank says they can't help me because I pre-signed a voucher for payment of any charges.
In conclusion, National Car Rental stole 700$ USD from me.
