Guardsman Complaint - Guardsman Scam - Warranty
GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN -- I purchased a sectional from Gerdt Furniture in Indpls. in March 2011. Three months later a visitor sat on the furniture with some kind of a liquid on her clothes which stained the sectional. I called Guardsman the next day and they said they would mail paperwork. Four days later I called them again and they said they would mail paperwork again. Seven days later I called them again because still no paperwork and they said they would email paperwork. But to print the paperwork it cost $29.95. I contacted the manager of Gerdt Furniture who promised to follow up and get back with me. After several attempts to contact the manager at Gerdt, I finally found out several days later the paperwork was at their warehouse and I would have to go there to complete, which I did immediately. Two weeks later, Guardsman called and denied claim as "Unknown Stain". Not once did anyone from Guardsman or Gerdt come out to look at the furniture. When I purchased the sectional, the salesperson while sitting on the model of the sectional said all stains were covered and if Guardsman could not remove stain the furniture would be replaced. Two weeks later, not a word from Gerdt Furniture or Guardsman. Please beware of both companies. Possibly all consumers that are being scammed by the furniture companies and Guardsman should contact their State Attorney General and file complaints of deception.
