Pet Paradise Complaint - DO NOT BUY ANIMALS FROM PET PARADISE! - Puppies Animals for Sale

Puppies Animals for Sale - Complaint
Review by jenc on 2005-07-07
MARLBORO, NEW JERSEY -- Bought a puppy from Pet Paradise. First, kennel cough (pretty common), Then an infection in the foot. Paid for everything, never even mentioned it to the pet store.
Then the dog is diagnosed with mange and is now unbreedable. If we ever wanted her to have puppies, they would get it.
I called the store and got THE WORST customer service I have ever experienced in my life. The owner, yes, the owner insulted me on the phone and would not listen to a word I had to say in between her insults. She tried to tell me that every dog was born with mange. That is NOT true. Every dog is NOT born with mange.
They did agree to pay for the treatment, but said I had to turn in her papers because now she's not breedable. If I had to hand over papers, I wanted some money back because now I paid $3,000 for a dog with no papers. She said there was no way I was getting anything back unless I bring the dog to her for a full refund.
And this person handles animals every day.
I'm now thinking about persuing a case in small claims court.

Through my own personal experience, I have used a private breeder to purchase AKC dogs. They actually are cheaper than the pet stores and the dogs are healthier! You really should pursue a refund....for the Vet expenses as well. It is not an easy fete to return the dog when you have already bonded. Is'nt it amazing the great service you receive when you purchase a dog, and the "Sybil" like attitude when a problem arise! Good luck to you!

I agree with neveragain. When you are paying that much for a dog it's best to get one directly from the breeder/kennel. Than you have the personal contact from the breeder and a contract to protect you from this kind of treatment. And I've also found it true that the cost is lower as you don't have to pay for the middle man. Hope your puppy is doing better.

So here ya go, Biz....Pet:any domesticated or tamed animal that is kept as a companion! That has nothing to do with a "civilized country." It is called matters of the heart! Let me put it to you this way....The leading problem in our society (in this "civilized country") is Obesity! Why not ration groceries for a month and send that money to Africa to help the starving children? Breeders bred dogs for a reason, and if you think that one sale will hold up that process...You are wrong! There will be another person waiting for the purchase! Obviously Biz, you never had a pet! How sad!

What the He11 does having a pet have to do with sending relief to Africa??! Another destine CLASSIC! If biz had a pet, it would mean sharing his Alpo.

You can't use a mut dog for a working dog. Special dogs are bred for blind people, hunting dogs, police dogs, the list goes on. Starving people in Africa as well as other countries are getting help too. I have an AKC "working dog" and I send a monthly contribution to missionaries as well. I guess you could say why spend money on a good car instead of a used clunker and spend the rest on Africa. There will always be a needy cause somewhere. I work hard for my income and spend it as I see fit.

What kind of Dogs do you have? I have a Lab/Rotweiler that I bought from a rescue group, who noone would take because he's not a dominant breed, he's the best dog I've had, he's also a 75 pound baby.

Don't buy any dogs from pet shops. They are bred in puppy mills in inhumane conditions. That's why they always have health issues. Most of them are inbred too because of this careless procedure. If we all stop buying from pet shops, the puppy mills will have to close. Do some research on this. It may shock you the way these animals are treated.

What's interesting here is that every dog out there has "mange". Stress beings it out. If you were looking for a breedable dog or even a show dog wouldn't you be the smart one to go to a breeder where you can see the parents and the awards and such? That's what I think....
