Sonic Complaint - Poor cservice

Review by bettjwil2 on 2011-08-15
Sonic has the worst service of any restaurant. They actually took my half eaten food back when 15 minutes later they could not work their credit card machine. I hope they realize they cannot reserve food. They need to have public service lessons. I have encouraged many people never to eat there again.

I wonder if they thought you were finished eating, and was taking it to the trash bin?

Were you returning your half eaten food for credit? I am confused. If so, they do request the food back if you are requesting a refund. Some places are nice and let you keep the food (if it was made badly or wasn't to your need), but some places actually do want the food back (to throw away not to resell), to make sure you aren't trying to get free food. Which is fair, considering that some people do take advantage of refunds. Hope you at least got your refund for the food they took back.

It sounds like once they determined they could not process your credit card payment, they confiscated your food.

Did I get that right? I have never used the stalls at Sonic. Do you pay before you get your food or after?

How I read it, is they wanted a refund for the food, which they did not like, and only ate half. Sonic agreed, and then took back the uneaten portion, and then attempted a refund, but were not able to process refund.

Then again, I don't have a clue.

"Then again, I don't have a clue."

LOL, story of my life...

Sonic takes your order over the speaker. They then bring your food and you give them your credit card. They go away and come back with a slip for you to sign. By then, you have already started your food. From what I understand, they had trouble working their credit card machine and because of that, confiscated the half-eaten food (15 minutes later). If it was THEIR problem with THEIR machine, shame on them!

I wonder if they just reached in the OP's vehicle and snatched the food right out of their hands!

Must have been a lot of food being taken back from customers that night, since the machine was down.

Well I bet some customers could probably provide the cash. I couldn't have though. I never carry any. They would have had to snatch mine...lol.

This incident reminds me of why I always carry a cash stash in my wallet.

You just never know when you actually might need to use the real thing!

I think the food was confiscated, but I don't think the credit card machine was down. Perhaps the card was denied?

OK, this complaint is taking form with the help of the residents.

If the machine was down, I do not believe they would have confiscated the food. That leads me to believe that there was an issue with the card, similar to the occupant in the room next door.

I carry several cards, credit and debit, just in case. I could make up a decent poker hand on the spur of the moment if I had to.

Maybe? Just maybe they asked for a refund but kept eating the food. Upset the Sonic folks so they grabbed the food they had to refund on? Just another wild hunch.

I wish the op would come back and tell us the rest of the story.

It's getting very exciting with all the theories here!

I love a good mystery.. haha

I have never eaten at a drive in at sonics, so I have no clue how that works. Guess I have no clue either haha.
