Amtrak Customer Service Dept. Complaint - Inability To Talk To A Represdentative On The Phone

I'm writing to inform Amtrak, that I was disturbed by a two hour delay on the carolinia. I departed New York penn station, on July 29 2011. I was supposed to arrive in Wilsdon N. C at 335pm. The train did not rach Wilson N. C. until five thirty pm. My question, is, can I receive a redit or a monetary refund?

i recently did a train tour in new york state. if i recall, on the ticket it states no refunds for delays. but still worth trying!

If that line shares the track with freight --freight lines have the right of way over passenger lines.

Amtrak is not responsible for delays: it says so when you purchase the tickets. Still, a far better way to travel then by air, if you have a fluid schedule and can relax when you are behind.

Looks like there are track issues, that may have required you to take a bus from Richmond to Wilson:
"On Mondays through Thursdays only beginning August 8 through August 30, Train 89 will operate between New York, Richmond and intermediate stations and will also make stops at Quantico and Fredericksburg. Motorcoach service will be provided between Richmond, Fayetteville and intermediate stations, except Petersburg. Contact Amtrak for other travel options at Petersburg."

But the date on this announcement is a week after your date of travel. My guess is they won't give a refund for an equipment issue that causes a fairly short delay. I did find cases where lengthly delays caused them to give a refund. Good luck.
