Waikem Honda Complaint - Service Department takes you for a ride

Review by bnelly on 2005-07-08
MASSILLON, OHIO -- A few months ago I had a clutch and driveaxles replaced on a 1986 Honda Accord hatchback. There was a little leak coming from the driveaxles when I got it back but nothing to complain about for 10,000 miles (I drive alot 100 mile commute). One weekend I took off with my car and noticed a huge puddle of transmission oil on the driveway. I took it into the Waikem dealership where I had it replaced at innitialy. They called back saying that the driveaxle seals were bad and that it would cost me $200 to replace them. I was shocked to find out that they dont replace the seals along with the axles. The seals only cost $0.99 a piece. The other funny thing is that both seals went bad, not just one. I know when you insert the driveshaft into the housing it is going to rub against the delicate rubber seal possibly causing it to tear. Especially one that is 19 years old. Bittom line. They say its not at all their fault. If the seals leaked before the put the axles in they say they would have replaced them. Just another way for the dealership to make a buck off of the customer. Waikem is pathetic.
