Hotels.com Complaint - A dishonest contract
DALLAS, TEXAS -- Complaint: Reservations # 173801326--- made Aug 21 for Aug 31-Sept 2 @ the Crowne Plaza Ravina, Atlanta, Ga
I would advise anyone wanting to save money by booking a hotel room with hotels.com to do so with caution. Their agent gave me a great price for the room and told me when I booked the room that the price quoted is billed in advance of my stay directly to my credit card and is non-refundable. But the agent left out one important fact: she was not promising to provide me with a room that met my specifications, which in my case was a room with two double beds, a bed for me and a bed for my roommate. It was not until I called the hotel directly to check that the reservation had been made that I found out my friend and I have been given a room with a single bed. Calling Hotels.com confirmed that this operation runs a scam. Their solution was (1) I could pay them an additional $133.00 to be guaranteed a room with two double beds or (2) I could pay the hotel an additional $25.00 a night to have a cot put in the room. Getting my money refunded so that I could book myself into a hotel that could provide two double beds was not an option. So I say to you what I wish someone had said to me, "Don't book a hotel through this group. You will get burned." I just did. I checked with my credit card company and they said they were sorry. They could not help. They said this company's contract is so ironclad I will never get my money back. So beware this group is a scam. Don't use them. I wish I had not. What was going to be a relaxing time in a nice hotel is now two nights sleeping in the same bed with someone who snores and tosses and turns all night. Don't let them do this to you. Pay the full price and book directly with the hotel.
