Stadel Motors Inc Complaint - Stadel Motors - East Petersburg Pa - Bait And Switch

Review by tjp2855 on 2011-08-24
EAST PETERSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA -- There are a number of used car dealers in the East Petersburg area. I brough a used Volvo from 905 Cars and Trucks and within 3 miles the car died on a busy highway. The dealership said they would tow it to Stadel Volvo and I got a bill for #700.00 !!! The real kicker is Stadel owed the car prior to the used car lot down the street, which they denied until I told them I was looking at the title!!!. I think they have a scam going where Stadel sells a lemon to the used car lots then knows they will get the business when the car breaks down.

No customer service at all at Stadel Volvo as they were rude and did not return emails !!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AS STADEL VOLVO ARE SCAM ARTISTS !!!!

Most used car lots purchase their inventory at auction from new car dealers that auction off trade ins they feel are in too poor condition to be on their lot, so it is likely they owned the car prior to the used car dealer. When purchasing any used car from a dealer or private party, always take the car to an independent mechanic to have it checked thoroughly. If the seller will not allow you to do this, it is a red flag, and you should run, not walk away.

Did this car come with any type of warranty?

You stated that you "think this is a scam," and then you concluded that "Stadel Volvo are scam artists".

That is a strong allegation, and honestly I think you should be upset with whomever checked the car out for you before you bought it used, from 905 Cars and Trucks. Or with 905 Cars and Trucks.

I don't see a Bait and Switch here; notably there does not appear to be a Switch.

I don't see a "Bait and Switch" either. I understand leet60 to be correct. These small used car dealerships generally get their inventory from auctions. Large dealerships will take the cars to auction that they receive in trade, which don't meet their criteria to include in their own used inventory.
I really don't think you can hold Stadel accountable for this.

Great review, very helpful. Thanks for warning us about this dealership. Definitely looks like a bait and switch well disguised.

Don't know about bait and switch, but good post about a bad car lot.
