Checkers Compliment - Apple Pies

Review by Nohandle on 2011-08-24
I don't eat fast food often but found myself at Checkers to pick up a hot dog. After I paid the lady, she closed the window and went to fill my order. I then noticed a sign on the window 2 apple/cinnamon pies or perhaps 2 cinnamon/ apple pies for $1.00. When she brought my order I asked were those the baked kind and she laughed and said they were fried. Thank you so much. I didn't have to go back through the line and she brought me the pies. They remind me of the old fried apple pies from McDonalds, before they were baked, only better.

If you have any reason to drive by Checkers and cooking oil is not outlawed in your state do try their apple pies. They are delicious and a nice desert touch. Crunchy, crispy and I'm serious quite tasty. Give them a try.

We have Rally's here, which is Checkers. I will have to see if they have the apple pies. I used to like the ones from McDonald's, but they are mostly crust now and have practically no filling

The apple pies from McDonalds here are now baked and have been for a good long while. If I was pone to eat cardboard I expect that's what they would taste like. The Checkers fried pies are really good. If you have a location nearby offering pies ask beforehand if they are fried. If baked, I would give them a pass. They would probably mimic McDonalds baked cardboard with a little apple filling.

I hear some McDonald's still have fried pies. I've always wanted to try one, the baked ones are simply ho hum. I wonder if Rally's has fried pies.
