Verizon Wireless Complaint - Verizon Customer Service is Useless!!!
I have had Verizon for about the last 5 years. I have never really cared for their coverage or service but since I got a discount through my company I decided to stay with them.
Well, in July my phone broke and I was in the market for a new one. I visited the Verizon store and looked at phones, I was told my contract was up July 10th so I could renew and get a discounted phone. I eneded up switching to Sprint due to cheaper plans and unlimited data but I waited until the 10th when my contract was up. I then got a bill from Verizon for early termination fees. When I called to dispute, the CS representative said she couldn't she why they charged me either since my contract was up on the tenth and I cancelled on the 10th.
After looking into it more, she said she could she why the store representative and herself were confused. Two years ago I upgraded early, in July when my contract was up in Nov so their system showed my contract ending on July 10th but in reality it was through Nov due to the early upgrade. Apparently, I had a two year 4 month contract with them. I agrued that I went with another carrier based on them telling me my contract was up. The representative said it was my fault for listening to them and not verifying it myself (I thought that is what I was doing by asking them). She said she could see why I was confused and couldn't give me an answer as to how it was I should have verified my account when even my online account showed the contract being up in July.
I went round and round with them and they refused to escalate it to a supervisor (this was my third call to them, the previous two I was promised a call back from a supervisor but never got one). So I guess Verizon would rather lose me as a customer for life than admit their system may have been at fault and left me off without charging me, specially since I had fulfilled a full two years already with my current phone. I have not been happy with my Sprint coverage either but at this point I'd much rather stay with them (I know, it is really which is the lesser of two evils)and when my contract with them ends I will be looking at anyone but Verizon.
