Chehalis Deli Compliment - Move Over, Subway, get Lost, Quiznos
CHEHALIS, WASHINGTON -- Each week, when we go to the Chehalis Community Farmer's Market, we would pass the Chehalis Deli coming and going, and always felt we should try it out one day. Today was the day! When we first went in, I was a bit hesitant about the prices for the sandwiches, almost ten dollars for a whole sandwich and five and a half for a half sandwich. This hesitation quickly disappeared when we were shown the sandwiches. A whole sandwich was two of the what I would call sandwiches, each about the size of a Subway twelve-inch sub. Crystal ordered the 'Bearcat,' which has ham, turkey, roast beef, swiss and cheddar cheese, lettuce or sprouts and tomato. I ordered the 'Bostonian,' which has dry salami, turkey, swiss and cheddar cheese, mayo, green peppers, onions, lettuce or sprouts with a container of oil and vinegar on the side. I also had a cup of clam chowder. With the first bite, the sandwiches became our new favorites. The flavors of the ingredients blended beautifully. The clam chowder was excellent, and each sandwich included a small bag of Lay's chips and a soda. We ate lunch, and each brought the second half (or is that quarter) sandwich home for supper tonight. The service was excellent, and the ladies took every opportunity to please. Another feature of the Deli is two tables with chairs on the sidewalk for dining al fresco. Very much worth doing again, often.
