Direct TV/Qwest/Century Link Complaint - No respect or consideration for death in family
I saw an ad on television for $89 bundle by Direct TV and Qwest I called and asked about the package and the person I talked to said it also included a $150 Visa card. There would be a small chg for a fax line and that the DVR was free there was a small charge for 2 HD boxes put 2 non HD boxes were free. They scheduled installation for Feb. 9. He came out and installed the Direct TV service on my televisions but since it took so long they would call and let me know when they would be back to install the service on the Internet and phone. They called and let me know that they would be back on Feb.21.
On Feb. 15 my daughter Sandy called to tell me our daughter Linda passed
away. It was quite a shook. Since she lived in LasVegas we had to fly there to take care of things. We flew out on the Feb 18 and was planning to return on the Feb 22. I called home to see if there were any messages. Qwest had called and left a message to remind me they would be there on Feb 21 to install our internet and phone service. I had totally forgot.
I called and told them what had happened and she rescheduled the installation.
When I got my first bill it was $325.56.For just telephone and internet. I called to see why it was so much. when I would I get my Visa card for $150.
She said she was not sure she would have to check. and I said when was I going to get the Visa card and she looked up my account and said that I did not qualify for the Visa Card. I asked why and she said because I did not sign up for the bundle.
I told her I did sign up because that was the only reason why I switched.
The next bill was $409.00. I got one bill for $67.75 it was not like the usual bill and the account number was not the same. I called and she said they were still trying to get my bill all on one and not to worry about it they will send one that looks like the usual bill. Just the other day I got a letter from a collection agency saying I had to pay or they would sue. This was the last straw. There was a Comcast ad on TV advertising the same special $89 for Television, Internet and Telephone. Free installation and free DVR for one. 2 non HD boxes free and 2 HD boxes for $7.00 each.
I called asked how much do they charge if you change before your contract is up and they said $200. Well I switched and they came out and worked all day installing everything and it all works fine and I am really happy.
I called Direct TV this morning to find out what I am suppose to do with
the equipment. I explained why I am changing and he said I can't change until the contract is up and I said I already did. He said they would be charging my credit card for $359.00. Apparently they do not have to honor the contract but I am suppose to.
