Ron Ferrari Auto Sales Brunswick Ohio Complaint - Misleading Sales - Ford Ranger Red

Review by june.toddy on 2011-09-08
I purchased a 98 Ford Ranger for my 18 year old son, who just joined the National Guard. I explained I needed a good reliable truck. I was told this was a 'good little truck that would last a long time'.

My son got home from Basic Training drove the truck to school, the tires went flat (looked good, turned out they were dry rot), then the brake light came on.....after $2,500 of repairs.....

Now Ron Ferrari tells me this is just the cost of maintaining a used car. Had I known, I wouldn't have purchased the vehicle. Shame on you, Ron.

Be careful out there!!!!

A 1998 truck would be 13 years old in 2011. Things do wear out or fail on older vehicles, which used car dealers often get from new-car dealers' trade-in castoffs (not meeting the new-car dealer's criteria for a used car) or from auctions. Best advice is to have an independent mechanic inspect a used car before buying, especially if it's an older vehicle that a used car lot is selling "as-is". Also, get a Carfax and an Ohio E-Check paper from the dealer if they offer them. Carfax usually gives an accurate history of the car's service, while a valid E-Check paper means that the car's emission system is well-maintained.
