Citibank N A Complaint - online CD purchase - Customer Service
NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- ON 6/27/2005 I purchased 2 CD's online at Citibank. I sent $1000 from my savings acct to fund these CD's. Over the next day or so I received an email saying I needed to put money in my CD's. I went online to see my acct. and saw that 5 CD's had been opened, and 3 had $500 each in them. I immediately contacted Citibank via email, and they told me to call a cus. serv. rep. So i did. She assured me she would fix it up gave me a reference number even. One week went by nothing happened. MY $500 was held in a CD that I never purchased. I called again, and sent another email. The second person told me she would have it fixed in 7 days. Why should it take 7 days to undo what they did instantly?? SO I waited a week nothing. I sent another email, they told me to call cus. serv. SO i went to a branch. The guy there at least got my $500 back and put it into my savings acct. and he told me he had closed the 3 CD's that I never opened in the first place. NOW its July 20, and those 3 CD's are still sitting on my account. Today they tell me that it will take another 7 days before this can be fixed??? WHY????? NO explaination of why...Then out of the blue Citibank contacts me and says they made a mistake on paying one of my bills, they paid it late. I have all my payments set up through the citibank bill pay. NOW my creditor may raise my rate, and it could cause me great finanacial strain if this happens. Instead of calling me directly they left a message on my account message center,,, i dont log into that everyday, so why didnt they contact me??? Citibank customer service, is the worst Ive ever seen. I am going to move to another bank, Citibank is fast to take your money and slow to return it, and they dont do what they say they will do.
