Procaccini's Italian Family Restaurant Compliment - Unbelievable - Italian Food
EAST HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT -- Lunchtime on a hot Saturday morning and hubby and I were wondering where to eat as it was almost 11am. Drove past Procaccini's as it is technically in East Hartford but really close to the Glastonbury/ East Hartford line. Never been here before but we were feeling brave, and more importantly, hungry.
We were promptly seated and a lovely young lady took our order. Diet Coke (woohoo!) for me and a coffee for hubby. Needed a minute to decide on our meal. She came back and we decided on a large pizza with pepperoni, pineapples, hot peppers and green olives (double woohoo!). I love green olives- could eat them on anything or alone! I asked how long the pizza would be since I was starving. Waitress said 20 minutes (good sign as this meant it was going to be fresh). So as we were perusing the menu for an appetizer, I asked if they did anything like fried zucchini. The waitress graciously brought us the dinner menu stating more appetizers were on there and while we couldn't order everything on there, most of them they would be able to do. We got fried eggplant fries.
The fried eggplant was lovely. Hot and not too greasy and came with house made marinara sauce and some ranch that I asked for as well. I tasted that marinara sauce and could not believe it. I am not kidding when I tell you this is THE BEST marinara sauce I have had in as long a time as I can remember (including my time spent in Italy). The pizza was incredible too! Piping hot, flavorful and full of our ingredients nestled in a blanket of cheese. Everything was absolutely perfect!
The pizza was too much to finish and we asked for it to be boxed along with 2 sides of that marinara sauce. And, unlike the service I received from another pizzeria (as penned in my Giovanni's debacle), I didn't get charged for either the marinara or the ranch sauce. On our way out we asked the waitress to please compliment the author of this wonderful sauce and was so impressed with it we asked if we could buy two quarts of it to take with us. They obliged and we happily left with our goodies.
If anyone is ever in the area, let me assure you, Procaccini's italian family restaurant will not disappoint!
