Maaco Compliment - Maaco scores high on value
CINCINNATI, OHIO -- Extensive body work and painting was perfomed on my 1972 AMC Hornet by Maaco. I cannot find a single flaw in their work.
The estimator and I went over the car together, noting each dent, rusted area, crease, and scratch to be fixed (and there were many). I explained exactly what I wanted and every detail was taken care of. Everything was done the right way: all trim removed, paint stripped where needed, doors removed and rehung, etc. They even replaced the bodyside moldings with exact duplicates of the originals.
Yes, this was a $6,000 job, which represents savings of $3,000 to $6,000 compared to other estimates. I cannot think of a reason to take my cars elsewhere for bodywork. I think the key is to tell them exactly what you expect. For example, I specifically refused the "best" paint service because it is a two-stage process that was not available when the Hornet was new and I didn't want to "over restore" the car. But painting is just part of the equation---make sure you and your estimator have a clear understanding of the level of preparation and detail work you desire.
Bodywork is never 100% perfect, but this job was the closest I've seen and the price was unbeatable. Way to go, Maaco!
