Cingular Wireless Informative - One sided contract is not a contract
SPRINGFIELD, NEW JERSEY -- I signed up for two years of service based on checking that Cingular service met my families needs. I have approx. a year to go. Sadly, service became unusable in and surrounding our home approx. a few months ago. Customer service gave me an apology and explained that after the merger with ATT, resources were reassigned to our disadvantate. They suggested we upgrade to a phone with camera or other features. I guess that is like occupational therapy. I should do something (keep me busy)which distracts me, but does not address the problem of the need for a stronger signal at our home and at the location where my wife works. To survive we are using a Sprint service which permits us to purchase time as we needed for a very attractive fee. Wish I knew about them before I went with Cingular. How come we do not have a problem with Sprint? Additionally, for a few months, Cingular service was good. However, that was before there merge with ATT.
I want to stop the clock on my Cingular service contract until they get better coverage for my locations. I am not sure that they will agree to this. I hate to throw out $500. (balance on our contract). I really cannot afford to waste money. We are living on a very tight budget.
First responses were not very encouraging, but maybe I can get a more favorable response from Cingular.
I suggest they would stop spending money on advertising that tells people that they have great signal strength. They fix it in one location by taking service away from another location. Instead of advertising and playing musical chairs, they ought to get the equipment that makes all of their customers happy. Happy customers provide excellent, effective advertising for any company.
