Home Depot Informative - Contractors don't get their supplies from Home Depot for a reason
General contractors who know what they are doing and remodel/ build homes do not get their supplies for ANYTHING at Home Depot. Every item there is sub par developed for the homeowner who believes he/she can be a contractor. Manufacturers like Anderson and Pergo create lines specific to HD that are a lesser quality than their standard product. It's similar to why Target can carry a brand name clothing item for a cheap price; of you look at how it's made, the materials, where it's made- it is different than the designer's real line. Does that matter to you? It should. Even their lumbar is sub part. A quality GC won't get his supplies from HD because he knows his work is on the line and he needs a good product so that his customers will refer business. A GC that is sub par will purchase from HD to cut costs and you will get a lesser project, which will come back to haunt you. He won't care that you don't refer him to friends, because he already sucks and knows it. Home Depot is for the homeowner who believes he/she can 'do it on my own' and is too cheap and naive to realize most work requires a licensed professional. If my child was struggling with reading, I would spring for a tutor who was a teacher, not the next door neighbor's teenager who wants to be a teacher one day. You get what you pay for. Make the investement.
