Andersen Emco Informative - Emco storm doors

Review by amagnaguagno on 2011-09-15
We bought an Andersen/Emco storm door TWICE. We bought our present door in 2009, to replace our previous Emco door, which we bought in 2006. In 2008, it developed problems with the sliding screen and handle. After we insisted, Home Depot sold us our current Emco door (same model) with a 30% discount + $75 toward installation. It has now developed the same two problems. Both were purchased at the same Home Depot store in Berlin CT. Thus we have paid for two faulty doors and two door installations.

Home Depot says it hasn't had complaints about Emco doors, which is hard to believe. The manager told us he couldn't reach the Andersen/Emco rep, who services all Home Depot stores in CT as he was on vacation (!), explaining that Andersen was reducing its product support for Home Depot customers.

Thanks for the Informative. Andersen used to be known for it's quality. I hope they aren't going downhill like so many formerly good manufacturers.

I had the same problem as you around the same time line but they made me purchase a new door at a discount becuase i wanted the newer style they were more then happy to replace my broken parts through the warranty but I liked the new door better It sounds like the same storey here. I see you complained to home depot but did you ever call the andersen warranty line not just go back to home depot?

Sounds like you are dealing with a Home Depot that is run by an incompetent staff. It's fairly easy to have these problems resolved.
