Apple Retail Store, Brea Mall, Brea, Ca. Informative - Apple helps computer thief bypass password protection

Review by Gcoxshoelady84 on 2011-09-16
What good is password protection if the "professionals" at Apple stores help thieves by
Helping them get into a computer they don't know the password to? Without asking any questions or asking for ID an employee helped a guy who had just stolen my daughters'
Computer from our home get into it. Even though her name popped up when it was turned on, the employee never thought to ask the thief for ID or question him on anything. Once he gained access, he erased all photos, music, videos, etc. This happened before we even knew the house had been broken into so we had no chance to call Apple to report the theft. The computer was recovered and the same store then charged my daughter $200.00 to "try" unsuccessfully, to restore everything, then offered a more intense service if she wanted to pay another $1,000.00!!!! Gee, thanks Apple store in the Brea Mall!!! Being halfway alert would have been nice. Their got your help for free. EVERYONE SHOULD REPORT YOUR PRODUCT STOLEN TO APPLE AS WELL AS TO THE POLICE!!!!

Unbelievable they wanted to charge you when they caused the problem.

I'm going to have to disagree with At Your Service on this one. Common sense SHOULD have prevailed when the thief presented with the laptop & ID should have been requested. It's a reasonable expectation I think.
