KMart Complaint - Don't fall for the KMart "replacement" extended warranty

Review by bill57 on 2011-09-16
Product Kenmore Microwave
Anyone considering purchasing the extended warranty sold by Kmart - Forget it. If you are OK for waiting at least 6 weeks to get your "replacement" go for it. I don't really hate Kmart as a store but the warranty really sucks.

These extended warranties are not worth the paper they're written on in most cases. Instead of pushing extended warranties, manufacturers should just make a better product.

Unfortunate. This review was just touting the service they got with their warranty: http://www.my3cents.com/showReview.cgi?id=104063.

Personally I think the name may be a little misleading. When you purchase the "replacement plan" for one year (or two) basically you're buying an extended return policy if it breaks within that one or two year period. Here's how it works, you call the 1-800 number give them the info printed on your receipt to verify you actually bought the plan/find out how much you paid, you then get the money back you paid for the item. I have never opted to get the replacement plan, and so don't know how well it works out but I did swipe a brochure about it.. Oh and I stayed at Holiday Inn, just saying.
