Direct TV Complaint - Buyer Be Ware

I called Direct TV in June 2011 to cancel my service because they were offering new customers a whole lot better package than what we were getting. They offered me a package I couldn't refuse. Part of the offer was that they would credit me the $10.00 for the HD monthly Access but they couldn't do it until the HD service was in stalled (choice extra). Here it is two billing cycles later and the $10.00 charge is still on my bill. I called to inquire about this and talked to 2 different people plus a supervisor. He said that it wasn't on the notes and therfore they couldn't do anything about it and there would be a $400 dollar early termination fee if I cancelled. On the previous contract they offered free NFL ticket and I told them I didn't want it renewed the second year but they automatically added it the following year for and charged me I think about $400 and when I told them I did not want the service and was told they couldn't cancel because the season had already started. Get everything in writing from the before you agree to there contract

From experience, DirecTV has some not very helpful customer service reps. I have found that it helps to call and call again to confirm within days that a request has been correctly received and processed. Don't wait 2 bill cycles.
