Southwest Airlines Complaint - Don't use your credit card on the plane!!!

Complaint
Review by Michellie719162 on 2011-09-18
My boyfriend and I flew to Utah back in June. The trip there spent 15.00 on beer the way back 15.00 in beer. Well now it's September and I got my bank statement for August and it charged me five dollars saying I was in flight?!?!?! Clearly I was not, its a scam I know it's only 5 bucks but is it gonna happen again?

Not sure I understand the complaint. Were you on the plane when you ordered the beer? Were you charged the $5 in addition to what you paid?

Might be a special in-flight credit card processing fee? If it is then it's probably mentioned in the ludicrously tiny & long fine print somewhere so they'll be able to tell you to shove your complaint & keep your money!

I don't understand the complaint either, but bored_housewife may be on the right track. It is likely covered in the fine print ):

$15 for beer? Had better be the best darn beer on the planet.

You wantin' a beer (that you can't have) to go with that pizza clutzy?
Posted by bored_housewife54 on 2011-09-18:
They didn't say they paid $15 for ONE beer, they said they spent $15 on beer...they could have had any number of beers that just added up to $15...

Last time I flew--over 2 years ago--beers were $4 or $5 apiece on the plane.

As an aside, on my last few flights, sometimes the flight attendants could accept only credit cards. Sometimes, only cash. Same airline, same vacation.

I use my credit card on flights all the time for booze, food and wifi and I always get charged the amount on the receipt. I would call your bank for clarification on the charge.

I went in JUNE. They charged me in AUGUST. They no longer accept cash or that's what I would have paid with. The statement said southwest airlines in flight. I haven't been on an airplane since June. If there is additional charges why months later?

Was there a charge on your credit card in June? If not, a reason it may have taken so long for it to appear is because it may not have been processed correctly by them. When they realized it, they may have done it correctly in August.

Yes they charged me a total of 30 dollars in which I spent in June

The quickest way to determine why you were charged another $5 is to contact the toll free # that should be on your bank statement, or dispute the charge with your bank.

Beyond disputing the charges, call Southwest Airlines and ask them what happened. They should be able to determine that you haven't flown with them during the period in August in which you were charged. I would expect them to reverse the charge or credit you the amount on your credit card.
