Hyundai Motor Company Complaint - Hyundai taking advantage of veterans
I purchased a 2012 Hyundai Sonata GLS ID Number5NPEB4AC3CH348317 from Millegeville Hyundai in Milledgeville, GA for $20,831.96 on Sep 6, 2-11. This purchase was for my daughter. I paid for this vehicle in cash. The salesman's name was Josh. I negotiated several hours before we agreed on a price. I have served 33 years in the Air Force and initially asked Josh if they offered a military discount. His answer was a definite "no".
Today, Sep 7, 2011 I received a call from Josh stating that there was a military discount of $500.00 and they had added it to the sale and were keeping this $500.00 so the cost could be brought down to their desired price after the sale. I ask Josh if he remembered telling me that there was no military discount on Sep 6, 2011 and he replied yes. I told him that I felt that this was unethical and should have been told me yesterday and also should have been part of my negotiating price. Josh then put the finance manager on the phone. I told him the same thing I told Josh. I also told him he was taking advantage of a veteran's service after the sale. He said he had ask my daughter if I had served and that was all he needed to add the $500.00 to his account. If I am not mistaken a DD Form 214 or discharge order is required for this transaction which the company received either.
Again, I feel this was an unethical practice and I should be reimbursed the $500.00 for my military service.
