Aspen Leaf Compliment - I finally lost my virginity...

Review by 143061 on 2011-09-20
FARMINGTON, NEW MEXICO -- To frozen yogurt that is...

The Aspen Leaf Frozen Yogurt store has opened my eyes (and tastebuds) to a whole new world. I had never tried it before last night, and I must say that it was quite delicious. I stopped by after driving past the store several times, since I was actually craving a smoothie. Since the store is located back off the highway a little ways in a strip mall, I was unsure of their menu items.

Once inside, I realized that it was only frozen yogurt. My family and I figured that since we were already there, we'd give it a try. The employees were extremely courteous and friendly, and immediately offered us several empty sampling cups. The entire store is self-serve, so we took the cups around and sampled various flavors such as caramel apple, New York cheesecake, pistachio, and even the "Flavor of the Month"...Peanut Butter & Jelly (not as bad as it sounds).

I filled my cup with half New York Cheesecake flavored frozen yogurt and half cookies-n-cream. Then you get to add whatever toppings you want at the self-serve bar. They have coconut shavings, caramel and chocolate sauces, several varieties of nuts, candies, and even cereals to sprinkle on top of the masterpiece. Then you simply place it on a scale and they charge you by the ounce. We felt our order was fairly reasonably priced, and would definitely recommend it to others.

It may not have been the healthiest choice, but it sure tasted good!

Sounds good! How was the pistachio?

Sounds like a new place out here called Mix It. You can choose from a variety of frozen yogurt flavors and have the option to mix flavors. Then there's a zillion toppings to choose from.

Don't have a Aspen Leaf in town but we do have a Yogurt Land down the street. Same concept of serve yourself. Lots of choices and toppings.

At check out if you can guess your price (you buy it by its weight) it's free. I miss by about .25 cents every time. How do they know that?

The pistachio was mediocre, while the New York cheesecake was absolutely divine.

I like the setup, where you serve your own. Is finger dipping possible?
Posted by Anna Molly on 2011-09-20:
I thought of that, too, trmn8r :(

Just no double dipping...

Anna, you used an unhappy face. I meant I wanted to use that approach :)

Trmn8r, and I don't want to buy frozen yogurt after you finger dipped...
