Overstock.com Complaint - Will NOT Release My Funds for a Non-Existent Order
I attempted to purchase a rug through Overstock.com, but I immediately cancelled the order as soon as it was placed (we're talking within a span of 5 minutes). I contacted the company to ensure they received the request for cancellation and they said yes. Since the order was never actually processed, no funds would be removed from my banking account (or so they claimed). LIE #1. They took the money and when I informed them of this, they stated that it was a "hold" and that it should drop off within 24-48 hours after which I should see the funds returned to my account. LIE #2. Fast forward 8 DAYS LATER...I have called every single day requesting my refund be processed. Every time I was told by a different representative that I should see the money in my account within 24-48 hours. Finally, after 8 days of broken promises I called customer support demanding my money. It was at this time the customer service representative "escalated it to [their] special claims department" which in truth sounds like a bunch of mumbo-jumbo to me. Why did it take so long for them to make the decision to escalate the claim when I had been calling every single day that the funds were not returned to my account? I reported them to the Better Business Bureau as I am convinced that this some sort of con job. I think they hold onto people's money purposely. I will never shop with these con artists and I suggest that any other consumer think twice before doing so as well.
