Federal Express Corporation Informative - An ordeal with a good end...
SHIRLEY, NEW YORK -- A week ago, I blew a head gasket in my 1999 Monte Carlo LS. As soon as I found the problem, I realized I had to change my engine. I picked up a new engine from a junkyard, that was in running condition, and gave it a once-over, and decided a few parts needed to be replaced. The crankshaft pulley was one of these parts. I then ordered a Lightweight performance underdrive pulley for the new engine from Fast Forward Performance. They shipped it Fed-Ex. I usually don't have problems with Fed-Ex, and usually, they're significantly better than UPS, up until recently. My part was supposed to have arrived on the 26th.
A truck stopped in front of my house, the driver rummaged around a bit before leaving, without dropping anything off. I look a few hours later to see that, "at 3:32 PM" the part was "Left on the porch, delivered, no signature required." This happened to be a crock. The truck was at my house at roughly 2:00 PM, and did not deliver anything. I called Fed-Ex. The first representative that took my call was very helpful, and told me that the local branch would get in touch with me between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM the next day. This never happened. It was 1:45 when I called the next day from work. The second representative was also helpful. I was not at a computer, rather at work, so I had no way of getting my tracking number. Though he did eventually find the claim, so this was alright. I was then transfered to my local branch.
Here's what's disheartening. The local branch just said that the part was never put on the truck. If it was never put on the truck, then why scan it in as delivered? I never got a straight answer about this, but the part showed up at my house, in my father's hands about a half hour after I spoke to the representitive.
Again, I ask... why say it's delivered, when it's not, then try to cover it by saying it was never put on the truck? Seems suspicious to me.
On the up-side, the box was in absolutely pristine condition, and was nowhere near as man-handled as my packages from UPS. The part came through without a scratch, and I couldn't be happier that I got it. I'm just angry that I was lied to, is all.
