Spirit Airlines Complaint - Don't Fly Spirit Air -
August 15, 2011 flying from Atlantic City NJ to Sanford Fl on the 6:20 am flight. Arrived at the airport by 4:30 am, was finally informed by 9:15 that our flight and the flight after was being cancelled, due to inclement weather. We were told to proceed to the ticket counter for refunds. According to them the next flight they could schedule us on was August 25, 2011, ten days later. At the counter we were given a full refund and where told we would receive a voucher for a future round trip flight. Two weeks after the flight I called Spirit to inquire about the flights and was informed it would only be a $50.00 voucher, which I was non to happy about and let them know it. I also explained that I would be reimbursed from the trip insurance company the different between that flight and the one we ended up taking as long as it was weather related, which at the airport that was there reason for the cancellation. Now all they will say is that it was a Operational decision. Not only did we miss out on a days vacation, spent an extra $600.00 for the new flight and now we won't even get the insurance money and to top it all off they won't honor there word for a free flight. Hell of a way to run a business. And when you call customer service (if you can call it that, you get someone from India on the phone who barely speaks English) How sad.
