Quality Inns, Suites & Hotels Complaint - Stuck in the middle - Quality Inn Tuba City, Az

Quality Inn Tuba City, Az - Complaint
Review by hksunshine on 2011-09-25
TUBA CITY -- Arriving at the Quality Inn in Tuba City, Arizona a Choice Hotel and finding there was no elevator, we asked for a room on the first floor as we have issues with steps.
Hotel clerk told us they could not accommodate us so we asked to cancel.
Told that as we prepaid thru Expedia we could not do that, so we were forced to stay the night.
In the room we discovered that instead of regular pillows we had throw pillows.
We called down to the desk and asked for regular pillows but were told they were on order!!
That does us no good and resulted in an uncomfortable, sleepless night.
Further the internet was so slow as to be useless for us and that was one of our main draws to this facility.
In the morning we discovered there were also issues with the shower.
We notified Expedia of the issue on the day of the event . After no response from their Customer support team we emailed their CEO.
They said they are just agents of Quality Inn (Choice Hotels)!
We contacted Choice hotels but still got no response. Most of the Choice Htels we have stayed at are fine but now we’re in the middle between Expedia and Choice Hotels with no resolution in site. Other hotels we have stayed at felt customer was important enough that if they had a bad experience they were not charged or offered refund.

I would have contacted Expedia right away to see what could be done about your reservation.

With all respect, I'm not sure where you got the idea that, by having a bad experience, you wouldn't be charged or receive a refund. Most hotels will not do so. All it would do is encourage complaints over minor issues.

To me, every issue you've complained about, were subjective by nature. That is, the pillows were not comfortable enough or the bandwidth wasn't fast enough. In addition, by your account, there was never a guarantee to a first floor room.

I'm not aware of what guarantees Expedia places on its reservations, but my guess is that not a whole lot will be done about your complaint.

You should've explained to expedia that you had to have a room on the first floor. When you use third paries, you have to prepay before you can check out the room and if you have a problem you can't get your money back.
