I have for over 2 years (even thought the gym did not open until 3 months after the promised date and start of billing)had my membership dues automatically withdrawn as per my contract from my account and it continues, fully paid up.
In the past 4 weeks, I have received 2 letters AND 1 incoming phone call from a US Company ASF International claiming that I owe my dues from July 29th 2011 on.... I called them back and they asked me for all sorts of personal information and demanded payment. Denying that my automatic deductions have been taken even though I was looking at my bank statement online during the conversation?
The gym apparently has a new owner HOWEVER since that time, the lobby furniture has been removed, the 'Snack Bar' has been closed down and products have been removed from the entrance way and shelves.
up to 1/2 of the cardio machines are either inoperable or partially broken. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and notified the local RCMP of the billing scam.
