Cavanaugh Beef Sausage Complaint - Ambiguous Labelling - Cavanaugh Beef Sausage

Review by hmlonjamejonsr49 on 2011-09-30
Company uses phrase "collagen casing" instead of specifying the animal source of the collagen whether pork, beef, chicken, turkey, etc. Some companies advertise their sausages "beef" but list pork casing in the ingredients. So the product is NOT "ALL-BEEF". What is the animal source of the collagen used to encase Cavanaugh "BEEF" sausage???

thre should be an 800 number on the label or an address where you can write and request this information. I am sure the labeling meets the requirements of the USDA and the FDA, or it probably would not be on the shelf. Those agencies are pretty much sticklers for accuracy in labelling. Good luck.

Have you tried calling the 1-800 number and asking them what they are using? It's worth a try.
