General Mills Complaint - I Want To Have The Company Make It Right

Review by bolandermelissa74 on 2011-10-03
I complained before about General Mills and they sent coupons to me through the mail which I thought was a nice thing to do since I am a very loyal customer...but this is ridiculous...buying cereal and not even a half a bag and its not cheap! I am on a fixed income. I am a single mother trying to care for my kids and I am a very loyal customer to General Mills, not just cereal but a lot of their products. I used to brag about how much I liked them. I just hope they make it right.

Shifting and settling occur from packaging to store shelf.....As long as the weight of the contents meet the weight noted on the box, they aren't doing anything wrong.

Great answer JC, I was thinking the same thing. A bigger box/bag is quite misleading, but the weight noted on the bag should be correct.

Also, when purchasing cereal, you may see the same cereal in different size boxes. Make sure to compare the price per oz to see which is the better buy. A smaller box on sale may cost more per oz than a larger box not on sale.

If I read your complaint correctly, your complaint is that the bag was half full.

Did you weigh it?

Is there an 800# on the box? I have had great luck calling, reporting problems, and having coupons sent to me.

Just is corrrect. A lot of times there will be a notice on the side of the box, stating that the packagiing is by weight, not volume. If you were familiar with the distribution network for groceries and saw the number of times cases of foodstuffs are dropped or set down hard, you would understand why the box seems half full. The same sort of thing happens with snack foods and other such items. remember, weight, not how full the box appears to be is what counts. If the weight is correct, they have done a good job.
