Amtrak Complaint - Poor Service for disabled!
I recently took Amtrak from Reno, NV to Chicago, Il. The #6 train was on time, but, after that things fell apart! I was to arrive in Chicago at 2PM on
Friday the 23rd of September, I had a sleeper and that was fine, good service, nice people, fine food. Due to delays, the longest in Salt Lake City and my cll phone not working, I did not arrive I did not arrive in Chicago until after 8:00pm, then I had tio buy a ticket for a commuter train to Oak Brook, Il. Nobody around to ask for help! On the way back, again the commuer train and for once my train #5 was on time. However it was all downhill from there! I was in the lower level car for senior and disabled. I could not get a sleeper on the way back, so I sat up for 3 days! No service at all, no one came to offer pillows, no blanket available, lights on in the hall, we could not close the door because it was so hot, so people were up and down all night using the rest rooms. No one came to clean restrooms or to bring meals to us. I finally got a conductor to come to the lower level car to deliver a meal to a disabled young man with cystic fibrosis. The food on the train is one thing I can't complain about, although a senior priced menu should be offered! I have traveled this route with Amtrak, but this was the the worst, and then the announcements could not be heard because something happened to the sound system. Good bye Amtrak, it's been fun up till now.
