Quality Inns, Suites & Hotels Complaint - General
VIRGINIA -- I have stayed at this hotel chain twice. I booked it through Choice Hotels, which I have never had any trouble with.
The reason I stayed at this hotel was because I had 3 people with me each time. I had my teenage grandson and granddaughter with me, so I didn't think it would be good for all of us to be shoehorned into the same room, so we booked a 2 room suite.
The first time, I stayed at one of this chain in Roanoake. The people there were rude from the first minute they found out I wasn't going to use my credit card. I tried to use the phone. It wouldn't work. I called to see what the problem was. I was told that to use it, you'd have to put down a $20 deposit. Fine. So, why wasn't I told this up front? Then, we asked for extra pillows and towels. We were told we had to go get our own. Considering we paid WAY over $100 a night, you'd think we could someone to bring a pillow or towel up.
The second (and last) time I stayed at this chain was at the hotel in Richmond in July of this year. I had been told by Choice Hotels that I could get a free rollaway for my friend who was with us. (I only had my teenage granddaughter this time, plus my friend.) When we got there, the clerk sarcastically told us that indeed they DID charge for their rollaways. $10 a day, thank you! I called Choice and did get my money back.
Mind you, I do not mind that much paying for the rollaway, but I did not think I should get treated impolitely by a nasty clerk. Then later, we asked for extra towels and were told that we couldn't get them because the maids weren't there.
Believe me, there won't be a third time at this chain. Considering that I paid much more for this hotel than usual, I think I could have been treated more politely. I promise that I won't be staying with these people in the future. I will continue to use Choice Hotels, since I don't consider this their fault. It is a matter of principle, but also, they should treat their customers with courtesy.
