Account Services Complaint - Unsolicited and repeated calls, often back-to-back

Review by dlumley94269 on 2011-10-06
In the past week I have received, on average, three calls per day from a company said to be "Account Services." The recorded message states that by pressing #3 key will stop the calls. No such luck.
Calls are not stopped when a person answers after pressing #1 key.

There must be a way to stop this annoyance.

The next time they call, press whichever button it is to speak to someone and tell them that if they call you again you will be charging them not only for the wasted call time, but $50 for every minute of your time they waste. That was the only way I could get it to stop. You can also contact the FCC and fill out a complaint form. These calls are annoying.

You can subscribe to the national Do Not Call Registry. Regulators also require companies to maintain their own do-not-call list.

Each time a company contacts a customer, the customer has an opportunity to request that the company stop any further contact.
Under federal telemarketing regulations, companies are required to note these requests and comply.

Customers who continue to receive calls after asking to be added to the company's do-not-call list may file a formal complaint with the Federal Trade Commission who, in turn, may issue a fine to the offending company.

Consumers should use very specific wording when requesting that a company stop calling. "Please take me off your list" is usually not sufficient to stop further calls, nor is becoming irate or simply hanging up. To ensure companies stop making telephone contact, consumers are encouraged to use very specific verbiage, such as "Please add me to your do-not-call list."

You may also ask your phone provider if the unwanted calls from that number can be blocked.

Can you block the number they are calling from on your phone?

I have a star 78 feature, which allows me to block numbers and keep a list of the numbers that I have blocked on it. They cannot get through, because my phone rejects the number they are calling from.

Good advice Skye. I'll have to try that on my phone
