Oldegg Complaint - Contrived damaged item returned

Review by freedom_now87 on 2011-10-08
Oldegg (pseudonym) personnel recommended that I upgrade my motherboard with a specific processor and I ordered it. When I received it I checked the manufacturer website and found that it was not compatible with my motherboard. I went online and generated an RMA and after receipt of an RMA confirming no restocking fee due to the poor company guidance and a shipping label I returned the item in the original packaging. I have been building computers for a long time and have never damaged a part due to my very delicate handling procedure. Some time later I received an email stating that the item I returned was damaged and I would not be refunded. The incentive mix on the Oldegg that detracts from their credibility is that I never had the item operating, they controlled its physical protection before it was shipped to me and after I returned it and all of a sudden they don't even offer this item for sale on the website. I have been dealt with deceitfully in an area where I as the customer have no oversight of the company's performance. I recommend that anyone dealing with this company take a closeup picture of anything they need to return and get a witness to attest to the integrity of the item or its faulty performance.

Are there any local computer shops that have the same items? It might cost a bit more, but it could save you trouble if there was a problem.

I had a friend buy a processor locally and bend a pin putting it in. He ended up breaking the pin off and still returned it. The lady behind the counter didn't even open the package. Buy LOCAL!
