Verizon Complaint - Landlines in disrepair
Ever since Verizon got hold of our phone land-lines years ago, which used to be a "public utility" with certain obligations, they used that monopoly to get their foot in the door and use the poles to run their Fios lines. Still required to offer the landline service, I guess, as the minimum obligation of being a PU, they have neglected the lines and they often just go off or crackle so loudly you can't hear. I was told on one service call this is because "it rained." Please - we're in the 21st century and rain disturbs the phone connection? They should be obligated to FIX THE LINES - even though they are copper. They put so much money and effort into their Fios that they don't care about the landlines. I spoke to Verizon several times about this and they said if I want better landline service I'd have to pay up for Fios. No way. They got in as our public utility and they have to maintain the lines to provide that service and I will not pay more - for 2 additional services I don't want through Verizon. That is extortion. I even spoke to my State Rep about Verizon and didn't get too far (campaign $?) This is a crime and Verizon should not be allowed to get away with it. I plan to get rid of every Verizon service I have - an I am only down to 1. They have NO customer service, either - talk to a computer - then repeat everything again to a human being (if you can get to one) - because the computer didn't understand "yes," "no" or "OK," which it asks you to say. Any company that has no pathway in place for consumer/customer feedback is suspicious to me and I interpret as they don't care. Verizon doesn't have to care - we don't have a choice since they stole our landline system.
