Netflix Complaint - Change In Price Refuse To Refund - Membership

Membership - Complaint
Review by evjohnfish17 on 2011-10-10
I recently return from being out of e-mail & mail connection and found that NETFLIX had changed there pricing without warning. My monthly charge jumped from $10.94 to over $17.00 a month !! NO WARNING They just starting charging my credit card with NO authorization from me. I had been a member for the last two years Not using them in almost a year However still paying my $10.94 every month. I called them and the fellow I spoke with was extremely RUDE and said "Sorry no credits and your out of luck buddy!!" Well credit you one month but no more. I'll never do business with these people and advise for everyone to Boycott them They have no idea about customer service and are so rude when you try to cancel your service with them. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH NETFLIX !!!

They did sent out an email to account holders letting them know of the price increases. I do not think being able to check email or mail means that there was no warning. This information was sent to the customers and all over the news for quite a bit.

It does sound like they were able to provide some good customer service in giving you a credit on your account. Good compliment review!

As a former Netflix customer, I received at least 2 emails about the price increase and that it was going to take effect for the first billing in September. I decided I no longer needed it and was able to cancel online without any problem or hassle. Its not their fault that you did not access your email for a few months.

Um...I received many warnings and emails as well. It was also on the news at multiple different times before the increase took effect.

I am not a Netflix customer, and I heard about this numerous times before the change was made. If you asked me, I could have even told you within $1 what the new rate would be.

I don't think Netflix did anything wrong, because I believe that they notified their customers of the change.

The $7 question is, once you received all your stale email and regular mail, did you find a notice?

Excellent review! If netflix want's to keep their customers maybe they should deliver to the doorstep. It's all about pleasing the customer.

I voted this very helpful.

There has been a great deal of communication going on about Netflix, not the least of which has been regular e-mails about the changes. "Quickster" is now dead, which sounds like a good move.

It sounds reasonable, especially if they've offered to credit you a month. That would mean for the $17 you got two months of service -- not bad.

I don't think Netflix gets it. They completely separated the DVD service from the streaming and people got angry. They said ok, we'll make another company out of it and people got angry. They said they decided against running the DVD business separately and people are still angry.
They don't seem to understand that people are angry that their cost has doubled! Price, Netflix, Price! Is Netflix that dense?

How did you not know that your price was going to go up? I don't recall ever getting any emails from Netflix about the price increase, but I would have had to have spent most of the summer in a deep dark cave without 4G internet to avoid all the headlines it generated.
